David John Alvarez

Mr. Alvarez has experience in various aspects of municipal law, real estate development, land use, entertainment, complex project financing and transactional matters.

During law school, Mr. Alvarez focused his studies in the subject areas of land transactions, financing, related and dispute resolution. Mr. Alvarez served as an academic writer through his advanced land use seminar to the Southern California Association of Governments on topics concerning transportation planning and environmental conformity analysis, drafting official comments to the regional transportation plan for Southern California.

Profile

Prior to joining the firm of Leal-Trejo APC, Mr. Alvarez was employed as a development associate for a private development firm with diverse domestic and international holdings. In this capacity, he oversaw the development and marketing of a multi-phase mixed use development, which included the development of a charter school and creation of a municipal water district. Mr. Alvarez also has extensive experience working with the California Department of Real Estate in the formation and management of planned communities and common interest communities. Through his experience he has gained expertise in all phases of development project financing, entitlements, environmental compliance, and governmental compliance as well as of real estate trust assets. Mr. Alvarez also possesses experience in the leasing of commercial and industrial properties. In addition, Mr. Alvarez has worked for various media companies including DreamWorks SKG where he acquired skills in marketing, licensing and distribution of various forms of media and products. Through his tenure with the firm, Mr. Alvarez has aided in all facets of the firms municipal and redevelopment practices. Mr. Alvarez currently serves as Community Development Commission. He also services clients in entitlement and land dispute matters as well as complex valuations relating to the acquisition and disposition of both public and private land. Through his efforts in serving many of the firms’ municipal clients, Mr. Alvarez has also acquired experience in the areas of eminent domain, public financing and bond measures.

Mr. Alvarez regularly provides services to municipalities in the drafting of various ordinances and legislative items. In his governmental service capacity, he regularly advises city officials on policy and ethics matters. Mr. Alvarez also handles contracting and transactional matter for represented matters.
