Denise A. Martinez

Senior Associate

Denise A. Martinez is a senior associate for Leal Trejo, APC. She first joined Leal Trejo in 2013. Ms. Martinez’s practice is focused on providing general counsel services to school districts and other public agencies. Ms. Martinez also represents community college districts in litigation matters.


Prior to joining Leal Trejo, Ms. Martinez worked as a litigation associate focusing on business litigation and defense of public entities. Ms. Martinez has extensive experience in drafting and arguing pre-trial motions and is well versed in all phases of discovery.

Ms. Martinez’ credentials include working with small local contractors and certified minority, women and disadvantaged enterprise businesses in the City of Los Angeles’ Minority Business Opportunity Committee and Bond Assistance Program.

Ms. Martinez received her J.D. from the UCLA School of Law, where she clerked for the Hopi Appellate Court Project. During law school, Ms. Martinez served as the Associate Editor for the Chicano-Latino Law Review and as a staff member of the Indigenous Peoples’ Journal of Law, Culture and Resistance. She also served as External Co-Chair and Admissions Chair of La Raza Law Student Association. Ms. Martinez Co-Chaired El Centro Legal, a student-coordinated legal aid clinic that provided legal services on a volunteer basis to underrepresented communities.

Ms. Martinez obtained her A.B. in Philosophy from Harvard University where she was on the Dean’s List and received the Michael Christian Traveling Fellowship and the Radcliffe Traveling Fellowship.
